Our History

RJ Tide Construction Company, Inc. was founded in May of 2010 by Russ Bertrand, Tina Bertrand, Jim Schueder and Deb Schueder as a Subchapter S Corporation located in Sioux City, IA.  Our founding objective was to be a full service concrete contractor that performed select general contracting for specific clients.  

From 2010 through 2013, RJ Tide provided construction related services for the metro Siouxland area and the region within an approximate radius of 100 miles of Sioux City as well as remote projects when requested by clients.  During this period RJ Tide experienced solid year-over-year growth while establishing a reputation for quality work, schedule adherence, and fair dealing.   

In 2015, RJ Tide decided to tackle the two most difficult issues facing all construction companies today. First, how to attract and retain talent in a diminishing workforce, and second, how to plan for the successful transition of leadership and ownership of the company to ensure the long-term continuity of the company.  Through extensive research it was decided to transition RJ Tide into an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) company as the best means to address both issues.  In October of 2015, RJ Tide Construction Company, Inc. successfully transitioned to become a 100% employee owned ESOP company and began seeing tangible results in terms of employee morale, retention, and productivity gains almost immediately.  RJ Tide Construction Company truly has "An Owner on Every Project"!

Today, RJ Tide continues to grow and expand our operations as the contractor of choice for employees, owners, and general contractors looking for a great concrete experience!
